HE TOLD THEM he’d be back.
Action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger did his second Reddit Ask Me Anything yesterday to raise funds for the After-School All-Stars, a charity that helps disadvantaged children.
In typical Arnie style, a donation will earn you the chance to fly to LA to ride in a tank, crush things in said tank, and smoke cigars with the man himself.
He’s played a lot of tough guys in his films, and it turns out Arnie’s daily life isn’t that different. One Redditor asked him if he’d ever been in an actual physical fight and won. Arnie came back with this:
A few months ago, I got rear-ended by this guy. He took off, and I chased him. I will admit I drove at a slightly excessive speed. I cut him off, and two guys jumped out of the car looking tough. But when they saw me, they just said, “Oh shit! The Terminator!” They were nice, and gave me their information.
Lesson: Do not crash in to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s car and expect to get away with it.
Arnie also revealed he’d been saved from sticky situations twice by stunt doubles – once on the set of The 6th Day, when he got trapped underwater, and then while filming True Lies:
There was a shot where the horse had to stop at the edge of a building… They dropped the arm of the camera on the horse’s nose, and it went crazy, spinning and rearing. There was no rail, and the ramp was only 4 feet wide. I realized it was a bad situation and I slid off the horse right away and a stunt man grabbed me. That one was really scary. If the horse stepped a foot the wrong way, we would have fallen 90 feet to a cement floor.
But it’s not all stunts and car chases – Arnie told Reddit that he’s into art, and paints all of his Christmas cards.
He also posted a special handwritten note to Redditor CameOutSideways, who told Arnie how his films had helped him through chemotherapy:
Aww. He’s just a big old softy, really.
